About the Role
Our client is a state Ambulance Service for Victoria, they are currently seeking a Administrator for Payroll Services (Payroll Officer) to come in and join their team in Doncaster VIC on a temp contract basis until 30th June 2026.
Candidates for this position must have proven end to end payroll processing experience, coupled with Chris21 system experience (Desirable or similar.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Comprehensive Payroll Processing and Compliance: Undertake the full suite of payroll and related administrative tasks (including new employee setup, adjustments, tax, superannuation, LSL/OTE calculations, and termination payments)
- Payroll System Management and Administration: Effectively manage and monitor the day-to-day operation of payroll functions, administering associated payments like WorkCover, and ensuring accurate records are maintained for audit and legislative requirements.
- Expert Stakeholder Support and Confidentiality: Act as the first point of contact to provide expert, high-level customer service and advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding payroll enquiries, entitlements, and conditions
- Award and Legislative Interpretation and Liaison: Possess a sound knowledge of Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs) and legislation, actively interpreting Awards and individual contracts to decipher pay conditions, and liaising with Workplace Relations/HR to co-ordinate system setups (codes/allowances) for new divisions.
- Process Improvement and Quality Assurance: Identify, recommend, and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance payroll systems and processes, analyzing terms & conditions in payroll paperwork, and continuously participating in the verification of payroll reconciliation reports.
- Time Management and Team Collaboration: Effectively manage own time and resources to ensure efficient work completion and meet all deadlines, while actively participating as an effective team member
About You
You will be an experienced Payroll Officer with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Experience with a large and complex payroll function preferably in an award-based environment
- Demonstrated ability and experience in preparation, entry and processing of payroll data.
- Advanced level of numeracy and clerical skills
- Advanced computer literacy and keyboard skills with a sound working knowledge of Payroll time & attendance systems along with proficiency of Microsoft Office suite applications including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Experience with Chris21 Payroll System (Desirable)
